VHS Wind Ensemble
The Wind Ensemble is a group of noteworthy instrumentalists selected by Mr. G from
Concert Band, Marching Band, and Jazz Band. Although the size sometimes varies,
generally there are about fifteen to twenty students involved, each responsible
for playing their own individual part. The Ensemble was created to further challenge
the students beyond the levels at which they participate in the various bands.
These students are required to learn most of the music on their own and get together
to practice as a group once a week for 60 to 90 minutes. Generally, there are about
10 practice sessions per season.
During the 2002-2003 school year, the Wind Ensemble performed at the Voorhees High
School Spring Concert as well as the Hunterdon County Teen Arts Festival.
Their performance at the county level earned them an invitation to perform
at the State Teen Arts Festival held on the campus of The College of NJ.
There, the adjudicator complimented Mr. G and the Wind Ensemble stating "... they are
the best Wind Ensemble I have heard in the NJ/eastern PA region in the past 5 years".
Now THAT'S a feather in their cap!!
